I get the above error as soon as I invoke the program and after I click "OK" on the error message window, it closes and the program fails to start.

I installed the program last night on a windows server 2003 machine and it was running fine ... I aborted a few sync's here and there but I was able to successfully sync after aborts ... then suddenly i see this message (I do remember vaguely that it said something about a corrupt xml file before it crashed) ... I've tried reboots, complete uninstall followed by an install ... no luck :(

Where can I look to troubleshoot this ... is there a log file that'll give me more info?

I have tried both 0.8.1 and 0.8.5.2. I can run the application once, but after selecting just one folder, such as C:\pictures, saving the configuration (attached), and closign the program, it will no longer start. I am receiving the message "Error initializing local folders Window Error: Index was outside the bounds of the array." I am running on Server 2003 R2 x32. There are no ampersands, and this occurs whether there are pictures in the folder or not.

I can synchronize with flickr during the initial run, as long as I don't close and try to reopen. If I delete the xml file, the program will open again, but obviously all of the customizations are gone and /auto fails. Any thoughts?

Closed Issue: On REPLACE Is PhotosGeoSetLocation() and PhotosAddTags() required?

seems like when you replace a photo on flicker it will update the GPS information and tags from what is stored in the image. Is this step really necessary?
Comments: Yes. I think it is necessary because this information might have been changed locally and the API for replacing picture does not update this informations (the API for uploading pictures does set all this information correctly but the replace works in a differente manner).

Closed Issue: Files geotagged with google earth fail to replace - Invalid latitude

Files that I geotagged with google earth are perceived to have GPS version "0.0.2.2" but they are really "2.2.0.0". They also have a seconds divisor other than 100 so if you step through the code convert coordinate will return an invalid value.

Looking at the ConvertCoordinate the only difference between the rational and non rational case is that if it is processed as non-rational assumes that the divisor is 1 for minutes and degrees and assumes that it is 100 for seconds. This is probably the case for the majority of geotagged photos that is why it does not fail.

If the seconds divisor is not 100 (which seems to be the case for files tagged with google earth) then the seconds value can greatly exceed 3600 and throw the whole equation off.

I would suggest getting rid of the rational flag and always convert using split and divide since it will always work, and not worrying about the GPS version.

This:

seconds = splitLongAndDivide(coordinates[2]);

Is the same as this
degrees = (int)(coordinates[0] - (ulong)0x100000000);
minutes = (int)(coordinates[1] - (ulong)0x100000000);
seconds = (double)(coordinates[2] - (ulong)0x6400000000) / 100.0;

when the degree divider is 1 the minutes divider is 1 and the seconds divider is 100.

P.S. You have to stare at both calculations for awhile and then you will see that they are really the same.

Closed Issue: initial loading of sets in FlickrSync become much slower with new FlickrNet API

Let me warn you about something. I already used the latest version of FlickrNet API in the past (2.1.5). However I found that the initial loading of sets in FlickrSync become much slower. Something like going from 10s to more than 1 minute in my case.

I discussed this with the FlickrNet lead programmer and he said this may be related to cache problems he found on previous version, where cache was being used when it shouldn’t. However, I found no problem with cache on FlickrSync (anytime I update a set it gets updated correctly on FlickrSync) and so decided not to upgrade.

Closed Issue: Problem with sets containing over 500 photoes

When debugging with a set that had 1600+ photoes in it I noticed that in SyncView.cs @ line 207 in function CalcSync()

after this loop was complete photos.Count was 500.
foreach (Photo p in FlickrSync.ri.SetPhotos(sf.SetId))

It leads me to believe that the max photo Set size is supported 500. I think this may be addresses in the new FlickrNet API there are more options in the PhotosetsGetPhotos method

Closed Issue: Prevent re-sync of sucessfully uploaded photoes if sync fails

I get allot of sync failures from proxy timeouts and invalid latitude in photos. The really anoying thing about that is if I am syncing 100 photos and fails on the 99th then If I do a sync again it will redo all 100 Instead of just syncing the last 2 that failed. I think I understand why it needs to stop on the first failure (because it does not store information on individual pics, just sets), but I think there is a simple solution:

1) Sync the photos in order of date modified (starting with the oldest). Then if a sync fails then you know that you were synced up to the date of the last successful photo.
2) Provide an option to retry on failure instead of just aborting the sync.
Comments: All of these issues should now be closed with version 0.8.5

Version 0.8.5 strongly improves the reliability of big uploads (big pictures, lots of pictures, lots of pictures in one set, long time for upload, etc.).

Thanks for a great program, flickr would be useless without it :)

My Problem: (and it seems a few others)
On some of my photos it displays an error messages saying:
Error associating photo to set D:\DirectoryName\PhotoName.jpg
Photo not found (1)
Do you want to continue?

This file is definately there and it opens fine in other programs. It's not just one file but a few of them! I'll attach a picture of the error and one of the pictures that caused the error to be displayed.

I noticed that other people have stumbled accross this issue before, and as an attempt to fix the problem, the options "Abort", "Retry" or "Ignore" were added in. I also upload large quantities of photos to Flickr at one time and I don't feel this is the best solution. When FlickrSync hits an error it halts all operations, stopping the whole uploading process until I come back to my computer (possibly after a few hours) only to discover it has done nothing but wait for my mouse click.

My Request:
Is it possible to have the program temporarily skip the problem photo(s) and continue uploading the rest of the que in the background whilst the error message is still displayed? Or possibly have it display an error report at the end of the overal procedure? Which then gives you the option to retry the photos?

The error i'm not too concerned about, however it's the action program takes that does!

This issue is fixed with version 0.8.5. You now have the ability to determine the level of messages that you want inside the program. If you select a lower level of messages, the program will increase the number of retries to make sure ir overcomes this kinds of problems. You also have the ability to run the program entirely unattended and also generate a log file with all the messages related to the syncronization. When you are running with the user interface, in the end of syncronization you have a button to view the log, so that you check all error messages that should have been shown during the process.

I'm pretty sure I used your flickrsync.exe both times!
Your first advice doesn't work for me. The filenames in the two archives do not correspond. Renaming your files to ...deploy didn't help. The installation woiuldn't run.
Replacing the installed files doesn't work either, because I can't find them on my system (not with the same names anyway).
So I removed everything that had to do with flickrsync from my system, downloaded your archive again, unpacked it and started the flickrsync.exe from there. I gave a local testdirectory 10 files, which were uploaded correctly in the "date taken" mode. Then I added 10 files and run "preview and sync". Flickrsync found 20 new files to upload and 10 to delete ... which is not what I consider logical.
There is something else I keep running into. When I restart flickrsync it tells me that the window can't be opend because the dateTime is not valid (I'm running a German WindowsXP). When I change 12/18/2008 to 18/12/2008 in the lastsync tag of the config-xml file it starts again, but with the same results as above.
Could it be that the date is treated "badly" somewhere else in the programm also, and thus generates the original problem?
(I haven't retried a sync on a big directory, but I guess it's no use trying before everything works fine on small amounts of pictures.

hmm, this zip file contained all patches. If you are seeing it start over with 5000 images again my guess is that you didn't run the modified version of flickr sync both times. Did you run the modified version initially then run old installed unmodified version the second time? Try replacing the files in the directory that you downloaded originally with these zip files and possibly running the install again.

If the "uploaded" time on flickr is newer than the modified time of the file it should never upload the file even without my changes, but without the 500+ patch it will only know about the first 500 files on flickr.

Thanks a lot for the modified executable. The "do it yourself" bit turned out to be "beyond my reach".
FlickrSync now seems to "prepare" my 5000 images set correctly. But my provider doesn't give it enough time to sync in one go.
And when I do the sync again, it still starts all over again with picture one. I thought the "modorder" bit in the zip would refer to your "lastwrite..." patch, but obviously I was wrong there. Would it be a big deal do fit in that patch ?

I don't understand your comment about reload(). The last line of reload on FlickrSync 0.8.1 is:
Flickr.CacheDisabled = false;
So, the cache is turned back on.

And even applying your patch I'm getting about 90sec. to enter FlickrSync (with the stable 2.1.5 FlickrNet version) compared to just a few seconds with version 2.1.3. Have you modified FlickrNet to achieve a better performance?

Closed Issue: Synchronization settings

I use Adobe Photoshop Elements to edit my pictures. I want to use FlickrSync to synchronize my pictures with Flickr. The problem I'm having is that I either end up with duplicates or I end up continually replacing files, or at least so it seems. Part of the problem is that when I edit a picture with Photoshop it creates a new file with the same metadata as the old file, but with a name like filename-edited-1. So using date synchronization is going to be a problem as I'll have multiple pictures with the same date. When I try and use the file name to title matching, I get duplicates and each time I synchronize I get pictures added. Is there some debugging output or logging I can enable to see what's going on?
