Hi,

I tried to install latest version of flicksync on my system (WinXP SP3, .Net 3 installed), but after clicking ok to giving FlickrSync the permission for my Flickr-Account, i get following error:

Unable to obtain flick Token

Error: Invalid frob (108)

I give flickrsync the permissions and restart application. Still the same error.

There is no settings-file, where it should be in my Profile-Folder - perhaps thats the reason?

btw.: I use german version of WinXP.

I have the same problem with Autosync, it displays the preview window. Actually, it seems to be impossible to supress the preview window even when running the application normally - i.e. setting the preferences to 'No information'.

The behaviour you describe it's correct. Basically FlickrSync detects if the file has been changed by using the modified date and detects if the file is the same or not according to the method. As you say, if you match by date taken and don't modify the file, it will assume it's still the same file and does nothing. If you rename it and the match by title/file name then he doesn't understand it's the same file and deletes the old one to upload again.
The solution for your problem is the following: Select "Match by date taken", rename the files and then "touch" the files updating the "date modified". There are some free tools (search for "touch") that do just this (update the modified date of all files). This way FlickrSync will know it's modified and since the match is by date taken, it will know it's the same file and just replace it. It will still upload the image (there's no method currently to distinguish metadata changes from image changes) but it will not loose all your other Flickrsync information (ex: comments from other users).

Hey there.

Pardon if this was discussed already, but I can't find a way to rename files on FlickR after I have renamed the local files? If I use "Match by date taken" as method, it says "Nothing to do" and if I use any of the other two methods, it wants to delete the file on FlickR and upload the renamed file.

All I want to do is for the software to realize it's the same file, and just rename it on FlickR. That way I can upload "Oslo - 001" to "Oslo - 999" and have them on FlickR while I slowly give the pictures more meaningful titles like "Oslo - Park - Flower" etc., and the filenames will be sync'ed on FlickR as I go along.

Otherwise thanks for a great piece of software!

I get the above error as soon as I invoke the program and after I click "OK" on the error message window, it closes and the program fails to start.

I installed the program last night on a windows server 2003 machine and it was running fine ... I aborted a few sync's here and there but I was able to successfully sync after aborts ... then suddenly i see this message (I do remember vaguely that it said something about a corrupt xml file before it crashed) ... I've tried reboots, complete uninstall followed by an install ... no luck :(

Where can I look to troubleshoot this ... is there a log file that'll give me more info?

I have tried both 0.8.1 and 0.8.5.2. I can run the application once, but after selecting just one folder, such as C:\pictures, saving the configuration (attached), and closign the program, it will no longer start. I am receiving the message "Error initializing local folders Window Error: Index was outside the bounds of the array." I am running on Server 2003 R2 x32. There are no ampersands, and this occurs whether there are pictures in the folder or not.

I can synchronize with flickr during the initial run, as long as I don't close and try to reopen. If I delete the xml file, the program will open again, but obviously all of the customizations are gone and /auto fails. Any thoughts?

Like another poster said in another thread... when I run the automatic command it brings up the preview window and just sits there until I click the Sync button.

Actually, I would like this feature to work like Picasa. The program sits in my task tray and monitors the folder tree it has been told to. Whenever a photo or video is changed in one of those folders, it automatically syncs the new version to Flickr right away. Picasa does this all the time, even if you change tags or a caption or the GPS coords.

This is agreat idea for a piece of software. I use Flickr to mirror part of my Picasa albums. Picasa has me hooked with the automatic sync feature in version 3. Compared to what Google offers, Yahoo really lacks in client software the way that Google has gone out and produced Picasa, Earth and other clients that integrate into the web versions. FlickrSync is a great step in the right direction and has just the right feature set when there is already heaps of cheap or free software that does all the things that Picasa does, just keeping your efforts into the basic sync feature and improving it as suggested here is probably the right focus.

After testing with the picture you've sent by email, I found that it isn't a flickrsync problem. In fact, even if you try to upload this picture directly on the flickr site, it also does not work. You have to contact flickr support.

When I run the directive given for auto mode with the /auto switch from the Vista command prompt, FlickrSync starts and automatically goes to the "Preview" interface. However, then it just sits there as if it wants me to click the sync button. From what I've read it sounds like the auto mode isn't even supposed to show the user interface. Any ideas? The directive I'm running pretty much looks like this "C:\thePath\FlickrSync.exe" /auto

I get the following error in the log whenever I try to batch sync my photo's with Flickr. I have tried all sorts of permission changes etc (including moving the entire photo archive to a different drive) and every time I sync I get this error - always on the same photo and it cancels the entire job.

Anyone know what this is or how to get rid of it?!?
